Although Chris is a new face to the race for House Seat 99, he is a life long resident of the Charleston area and his roots go deep. In high school and college Chris worked a wide variety of jobs, including landscaping, house painting, hospitality, and working at the former grain elevator. After graduating from Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law, he and his wife Tanya moved to Mount Pleasant and raised 3 children. Early in his career he assisted the City of Goose Creek with their night court. In 2004, Chris moved his law practice at Clawson & Staubes to Daniel Island. In 2017, he started the Harbor Group business brokerage and Staubes Law Firm to focus his energies on assisting small business owners. In addition, he advises the City of Charleston with its affordable housing efforts, and uses the practical skills he learned as a member of the Charleston County School Board to help charter schools succeed. Chris' community service includes, but is not limited to, President Emeritus of the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, President of the Coastal Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and past board member for the Charleston County School District.
